The ABC of snow clearance

Submitted by Saara Korjus on

I like doing snow clearance though it's physically demanding because I consider it to be good customer service. I think snow clearance is important so that people can move freely without fear of being injured.

Now that there's plenty of snow, doing snow clearance is very important, which is why I decided to write up an ABC on how to do snow clearance correctly and safely. Snow clearance can be done in any weather, apart from rain. A shovel is a dear friend for a snow clearer but if you don't want to use one, then a snow scoop has proven its worth as well. As long as you remember the right technique while doing the work, you are saved from back problems. The recommended technique is to have your knees slightly bend and flexible, then just fill your shovel with snow and lift with legs.

After snow clearance, it's time to gravel. When graveling, you should pay close attention to that all paths that people use are graveled well to avoid any accidents. The gravel used should be granular and it is spread so that there is at least 20 granules under one foot. A good rule of thumb when graveling is to do always after snow clearance as well as when the snow has left.

Despite my instructions and advise, does doing snow clearance seem like a heavy or overwhelming project? If so, no worries, just contact us and we'll do them for you. Contact info: call 040 5511 328, or email to info ( at ) teamkukouri.fi
